Okay first post!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to ItsyDogsy's revamped blog!

Since this is the first post, I shall write about how ItsyDogsy started ^^

Hmm lets see.... (note, it's gonna be a long ride)

We started this business for our youngest dog, Baby.

Baby's mother Reiko was pregnant when she was diagnose with heartworm and the doctor didn't know about it when she proceed with the heart worm treatment.

I don't blame the doctor for this as it was too early to see her fetus from the xray when we brought her in for the very first time.

What I was upset about was, Reiko was hospitalized for a few days for heart worm before her due date and no one noticed that she was pregnant.

The vet told me they can't tell because they don't have an ultrasound machine but as a owner of 4 dogs (1 of them went away to the Rainbow Bridge at 2009), I've visited an amount of vets before and Baby have a grandma too. All of the vets told me the same thing, they can feel whether a female dog is pregnant by touching them and do without an ultrasound especially when they are about to due, and when Baby's grandma Pipi was pregnant, she did go for an ultrasound too.

I wonder was it that no one pays attention to their furry patients? Reiko gave birth early morning, when the vet tech discover her, she already gave birth to 2 puppies, and she needs to be operated immediately to save the another 3 puppies in her.

Reiko lost quite an amount of blood, so the vet decided to remove her uterus to stop the bleeding. Got the news, 2 died so we were only left with 3 puppies, 2 male 1 female.

Reiko with the pups.

Taking care of them was a painful and tiring task, it was a bumpy journey. We were told by the vet to take extra care of them as heartworm treatment is arsenic, the puppies might not live due to the amount of medication and toxic in Reiko's body. And Reiko didn't produce any milk, thus I need to feed them with milk replacer every 2 hours. No one is helping me, so I was under alot of stress during that period of time due to lack of sleep, the enormous hefty bills and worrying too much for these 3 babies.

5 days old, A above, C below.

I named them A, B, C. A was born by c-section, B was "popped" out by Reiko and C is the only female. Long story short, A & B didn't make it far, B died 3 days later, A died 2 weeks later. I cried alot during that period, and look totally like crap. Every vet that saw me told me to give myself a break, burying 4 puppies in 2 weeks is too hard for me to handle. So I prayed everyday, somehow I don't dare to sleep as I need to be there if C needs me.

13 days old, their eyes are slowly opening

C is always the stronger puppy, she don't like to sleep under the blankie (newborn puppy needs to be kept warm) & loves to sleep on top of her siblings since the day she was born, I syringe feed them as they were too small for milk bottles (the milk bottles in SG are considered big for the amount of milk they drank), her suckling power is really good, I have to hold the syringe tightly whenever I feed her as she can suck the milk herself, it goes really very fast!

Love watching her sleep.

When she was 4 weeks old, we noticed that she still can't walk properly and took her to the vet (another vet, we didn't visit the previous one anymore). It turns out that she was born with deform legs, her kneecaps were bent inwards instead of being straight.... another bad news. I keep asking God, she's the only one left, why can't she be a normal healthy puppy?

Her 1st toy

We decided not to let her go for surgery, as the process is too risky and I really can't lose her. So we let her go for physiotherapy, filled my floor with alphabet puzzle mats (as our normal flooring isn't good for her legs), she was told not to jump, run or stand on 2 feet which is very hard for her, cause she's really very active.

Massaging her legs.

Have to bring her down to the vet frequently for review, once a week when she was a few weeks old until she took her 1st puppy shot and she have lots of medication. Problems didn't stop, her digestive system doesn't seems to be good and she's a very very picky eater. The vet mention that we can't treat her like other puppies cause she was born under special circumstances, so no matter what... she have to eat! So I bought alot of food for her trial and error, but nothing works well even now. So I rotate her food now and then, but she will still miss her meals some days and puke stomach bile sighs.

Decided to call her Baby as she's really like a baby, she needs alot of attention from me and my partner. Life has changed ever since, one of us have to be around or we can't go out without her for a very long time, she will not eat or drink and cry nonstop till we are back. We can't go on holidays and I have to be more homely than ever, how I wish I can bring her to supermarkets or bring her for a holiday. And this journey taught me alot, now I know how to take better care of my furkids.

She love putting her tongue out

I was talking to my partner about how nice it can be to start out a pet shop eventually we made our mind  to start an online shop, so I will be able to manage my time between the business and my dogs especially Baby, who really needs us by her side. Doing pets related stuff is a joy, but as we are still green in this, we were thinking to start out small before venturing into a bigger market.

Currently our shop sell some pets accessories and daily necessities, we will bring in more items in the future.

Sorry for the lengthy post and hope you will support us ^^

Thank you!

xoxo.
